Site audience and purpose

Businesses, particularly employers of work permit holders, are the primary audience for this site. Secondary audiences include visitors, students, and those seeking residency and/or citizenship.

Site navigation

The site is divided into five main topics; namely:

  • Topic1 provides information about topic1.
  • Topic2 highlights the system of topic2.
  • Topic3 details research projects undertaken on topic3.
  • Topic4 specifies topic4, etc.
  • Topic5 for topic5.

Additionally, there are six reference topics - About Us, News, Publications, Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), Contact Us, and Forms.

The Site A-Z index and the Site Map are recommended as alternative aids to navigating the site.

Page layout

Pages on the site conform to a standard format.

The banner menu provides links to the most popular items and the reference topics from each page of the site. Click on the Immigration Department logo image to return to the homepage.

At the foot of each page is information on the date the page was published or last modified, the primary contact details for the Immigration Department, and other useful links, e.g. terms and conditions, access keys, feedback, etc.

The right column, except on the homepage, shows a local menu specific to the section of the site currently being visited.

Abbreviations and acronyms

Pages and documents may contain unfamiliar abbreviations and acronyms. Please review the glossary of abbreviations and acronyms for clarification.
